Viking wool hat from Birka with linen lining
Viking wool hat from Birka with linen lining
- The offer includes the hat only. Please read the product description for size, material, and other information.
Product information
This wool hat is a reconstruction of a headcover from Birka, an early medieval trading center. It consists of several parts sewn together. Additionally, the hat is decorated with a wool trim in the chosen color.
A linen lining is added inside for protection and comfort. It will also be useful if you are allergic to wool - the linen will act as a barrier.
The product is machine-sewn in our workshop in Otwock, Poland. Decorated with visible hand stitches. Each piece is made to order.
Size & length
Head circumference | |
XS | 52-54 cm |
S | 54-56 cm |
M | 56-58 cm |
L | 58-60 cm |
XL | 60-62 cm |
- Select the size based on the head circumference at its widest point, according to our size chart!
- The hat does not stretch, so if you wear a size 56 knit hat, it doesn't mean you can't wear a size 58 or larger.
- The smallest size is recommended for children. Women's sizes are usually 56-60, and men's sizes start at 58.
- The hat doesn't completely cover the ears, leaving a few centimeters above the earlobe.
- If you choose a standard size without providing measurements, the product will be sewn to the maximum circumference from the chart (e.g., size M = 58 cm, not 56 cm).
- Do you have any questions or difficulties with measuring? Visit our studio for a consultation.
Fabric & color
- This product is made of high-quality sheep wool, with a minimum 80% pure wool content.
- The lining is made of medium-weight 100% linen 185–220 g/m² – it is non-sheer and retains its shape.
- The material is pre-washed, softened, and wash-resistant, ensuring years of use.
- Its high quality is confirmed by the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certificate. The linen comes from Belarusian farms.
- Due to the high turnover of fabrics among suppliers, we do not have a fixed color palette and work with materials available in stock. These are often small pieces that are not enough for a large product, but are perfect for hats and small items. This approach allows us to reduce textile waste and utilize every last piece of fabric, even the smallest. This does not guarantee the presence or absence of visible weave on the fabric, for example, a herringbone twill.
- If you are interested in specific colors or shades, please contact us in advance so we can select the right material.
- Colors may vary slightly due to fabric turnover among suppliers, lighting conditions, and screen settings.
Washing & care instructions
- Hand-wash only in cold water, using special, very gentle detergents designed for natural wool.
- Do not use bleach or stain removers!
- Do not spin dry quickly (it damages the seams and fibers).
- Dry vertically outdoors. Do not tumble dry.
- Can be ironed at a temperature suitable for wool, on a very delicate setting.
