An early medieval Slavic woman's costume, based on archaeological finds and historical iconography from Central and Eastern Europe.

This outfit is our interpretation of a Slavic woman's clothing from the Early Middle Ages, designed for historical reenactment, living history, and educational events.

The set consists of five elements, which can be selected according to your needs.

Elements of the costume

The set may include the following elements:

  • linen dress

  • wool apron (zapaska)

  • linen headscarf

  • woven headband – slavic czołko

  • woven belt

The colours of the elements can be matched according to your preferences.

Linen dress

The dress has a classic, loose cut typical of early medieval Slavic clothing.

The construction is based on rectangular pattern pieces typical of early medieval tailoring.

  • square gussets under the arms increase freedom of movement

  • two triangular gores inserted from the waist widen the skirt

  • long sleeves almost fully cover the arms

  • sleeves narrow only slightly towards the wrist

The loose construction provides comfort and a natural historical silhouette.

Wool apron (zapaska)

The wool apron is a typical element of Slavic women's clothing.

It consists of two panels tied around the waist.

You can choose a colour from the available options or ask about current fabric availability.
The price may vary depending on the selected material.

Linen headscarf

A classic linen headscarf, light and breathable.

Available in several colours and can be matched with the other elements of the costume.

Czółko – woven headband

The czołko is a characteristic element of early medieval women's costume.

The set includes four temple rings made from bent wire.

The woven headband can be made in a selected colour combination, for example matching the belt.

Woven belt

The belt can be made in any colour combination.

Standard length:
200 cm + fringes

Craftsmanship

The costume is machine sewn in our workshop in Otwock, Poland.

A version with hand finishing can be selected, where visible elements are finished with hand stitching.

Each item is made to order.

Brooches, pouches and other accessories shown in the photos are not included.

Size is chosen based on the bust measurement at the widest point.

If standard sizing is selected without providing measurements, the garment will be made using the maximum measurement from the size range (for example, size M = 98 cm).

The selected size does not affect the length – we adjust it to your height.

Fabric and colour

The dress, apron and scarf are made from 100% linen with a medium weight of 185–220 g/m².

The linen is pre-washed and softened, making it durable and comfortable to wear.

Quality confirmed by Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification.
The linen comes from Belarusian flax production.

The woven trim is made from 100% wool yarn.

The apron decoration is made of natural silk.

Due to the rotation of fabrics at suppliers, we do not maintain a fixed colour palette. We often use smaller pieces of fabric, which helps reduce textile waste and allows us to use high-quality materials efficiently.

All fabrics are factory woven and chemically dyed.

Colours may vary slightly depending on fabric batches, lighting conditions and screen settings.
